CMMS Voice Studio Payment/Lesson Policy Statement

Revised 7/2025

Payment and Music

1.  Lessons are one day per week at my home studio or online.

2.   Tuition is:

    • $30.00 per 30-minute lesson, $45.00 per 45-minute lesson, or $60.00 per 60-minute lesson
    • There is an annual non-refundable $25 registration fee due with your first payment.  This fee covers administrative time for all scheduling, invoicing, lesson notes and lesson prep outside lesson time.

3.  Payment is made monthly for the number of lessons to be received for that month.  You will receive an invoice two weeks prior to the tuition due date with the correct amount due.

4.  Payment for the month will be due usually the 3rd week of the prior month.  (For example:  October tuition will be paid no later than the 3rd week of September)

  1. Check (made out to: Cara Mattson) or cash is acceptable.  Cash or checks may be simply brought to your lesson, mailed, or dropped off no later than the third week of each month.  Many people also choose to have their banks send a check via “bill pay”.

  1. Due to copyright laws, occasionally you will also be asked to purchase music songbooks or individual sheet music.  I will instruct you where to get them so no payment to me is necessary.

  1. Music theory may also be taught in lessons.  If we choose to have you learn music theory with your voice lessons, I will purchase a workbook through MMTA (MN Music Teachers Association) and ask for reimbursement.

Missed Lessons, Make-up Lessons, and Snow Days

If you must miss a lesson due to a legitimate conflict (illness, family vacation, school conflict, or emergency), please notify me IN WRITING via text or email ASAP (preferably at least one week before the lesson) so I can try to schedule a switch with another student.  Please do not rely on verbal notifications as I have many students.  If you forget to notify me and you miss the lesson, it will NOT be made up.

If you have a sudden conflict due to illness or emergency, please email/text me as soon as you know are not going to be at your lesson or online.  I may be able to schedule someone else during your normal time and switch you to their time later in the week.  If this is not possible, you many choose an option below:

  1. Schedule a different lesson time that works with both of our schedules.
  2. Schedule an online lesson time.
  3. Forfeit the lesson.

In the case of extreme weather days where you are not comfortable driving, you may choose an option below:

  1. Online lesson that day at your regular lesson time or a pre-arranged time.  You will need a device to run the online lesson (laptop, tablet, or smartphone).  Headphones with a built-in mic and an additional device to play tracks are highly recommended, but not required.
  2. Forfeit your lesson.

If you forget to come to your lesson and do not give me advance notice, the lesson will not be made up.  If you forget to log on during your scheduled online lesson, it will also not be made up.  It is your responsibility to come to your lesson on time each week.  I will usually text or call you after about 3-5 minutes after the lesson has started to try to help remind you.
